Avidrone

In the fall of 2024, Avinor began work on the new UTM system, which has been named Avidrone. The new solution will ensure a more intuitive user experience and technical upgrades that will meet the wishes of drone pilots. Avidrone will be available online, in the App Store and on Google Play.

Avidrone postponed until further notice

Avidrone, which was planned to replace Ninox Drone from 8 December, has now been put on hold due to technical issues that need to be resolved before further use. The app has therefore been taken down until this is clarified.
Ninox Drone will continue for the time being, and drone operators can still use Ninox to apply for permission to fly within the restricted zone as usual.

What can you expect in Avidrone?

  • Overview of airspace: A challenge that many drone operators experience is keeping track of which restrictions apply in different airspaces. Avidrone will help make this more understandable and user-friendly.
  • More flight permits: The ability to apply for permission to fly within five kilometers of airports will of course be continued in Avidrone. We will also facilitate the ability of other authorities through Avidrone to grant flight permits for airspaces they are responsible for, either manually or automatically within given parameters.

  • Increased situational awareness: Efforts will be made to give users a better situational picture of activity in the airspace by introducing more monitoring sources. We are doing this to increase the safety of both drone operators and other airspace users.

  • A UTM system built for the future: With a solid increase in drone activity every year, there will be a greater need to have an overview of who is flying where, especially in areas where there is a lot of simultaneous activity. The European Union's U-space regulations allow for the establishment of specific airspaces where drone operators and service providers must meet specific requirements in order to operate. Avidrone will facilitate such a development in aviation.

What does this mean for you as a Ninox Drone user?

Unfortunately, Avinor does not have the ability to automatically move existing users from Ninox Drone to Avidrone. This means that you as a user must download the Avidrone app and register as a user when we open this up. Registration works across platforms, so if you want to use multiple devices you only need to register once.

Thank you for being part of our community, and for choosing to trust us with your drone operations. We look forward to entering a new chapter and seeing you flying with Avidrone. We want to keep you informed about the transition to Avidrone and provide you with relevant information through newsletters.
