Every day, Avinor's employees work to connect Norway internally and with the rest of the world through a network of 43 airports across Norway.

Avinor has many occupational groups with a high degree of specialization. While managing an essential part of Norwegian infrastructure, we also conduct leading research and development in several fields. We are responsible for the 43 state-owned airports and also operate 12 airports in collaboration with the Armed Forces.

In addition to the airports, Avinor operates control towers, control centers, and other technical infrastructure for safe air navigation.

You may know Avinor best from when you're about to travel? It's no wonder - Avinor is responsible for nearly 600,000 takeoffs and landings, over 50 million passengers (2019 numbers), and approximately 50,000 flyovers in Norwegian airspace annually. We develop, manage a complex infrastructure that is crucial for operations, and a range of digital systems that are essential throughout the entire "passenger journey" - including avinor.no, app for passengers, app for employees, check-in systems, baggage handling, flight times, remote towers and other tower control services, flight information services, weather observation services, cyber security, and much more.

Technology and development play a crucial role in this context, but not as much as the people and environments behind them! We are now significantly strengthening the team on the technology side. The right minds, and the good collaboration between departments and units, are crucial to ensuring everything works together in an efficient and safe manner - for both our passengers and partners.

    AI in Avinor

Why is Avinor focusing on AI?

In the years to come, AI will be a central contributor to ensuring the efficient operation of future airports and for Avinor's service offerings. The AI initiative has a value-driven approach and aims to create value for Avinor, our partners, and society. By integrating AI into our daily operations, Avinor can increase revenue, reduce operating costs, optimize investments, and improve various processes – both in operations and administration.

AI represents a whole new type of technology that will be highly significant for us moving forward. For Avinor, we aim to become more data-driven, and we must build competence to solve tasks smarter than we do today.
